The brain then responds with specific body actions \u2013 such as engaging a particular muscle chain, regaining balance, or keeping the body&#8217;s center active (the abdominals).<\/p>\n<p>In daily life, it is important to realize that if the shoes we wear do not allow our feet to function freely, they suffer, become deformed, and their poor function can lead to other problems \u2013 imbalanced posture, hip pain, back pain, neck pain, etc.<\/p>\n<p>That is why choosing the right shoe is essential. Increasingly, people are talking about minimalist shoes, which have a very thin yet protective sole and a wide toe box to allow the toes to move freely (examples: Vivobarefoot, Five Fingers).<\/p>\n<p>In Pilates, the &#8220;Footwork&#8221; exercise, performed on the Reformer or Wunda Chair, allows us to work on the flexibility, movement, and strength of the feet while also training the rest of the body. Other accessories are available in the studio \u2013 Foot Corrector and Toe Exerciser.
