A little history …
Pilates is a physical activity accessible to all, invented by Joseph Pilates in 1920. The founder of this method was in poor health, suffering from asthma, rickets and rheumatoid arthritis. Despite his difficulties, he was an assiduous sportsman, practicing precise exercises inspired by stretching animals in the woods. Far from being a pointless activity, this sporting discipline has already proved its effectiveness. It is based on a complete study of the anatomy, using targeted movements to strengthen the body’s deep muscles and relax the joints, without pain or danger to health.
How to get a flat stomach with Pilates?
It’s a set ofsheathing and stretchingexercises to develop deep muscles, especially those of the trunk, which are rarely used. And, to achieve a firm, flat stomach, we need to take in-depth action on these postural muscles, which, when ignored, become weak and slack, leading to the formation and accumulation of fat in the abdominal area.
Far from traditional abdominal exercises that can be painful or even dangerous, the Pilates method proposes precise movements that act in a targeted way on the deep muscles of the body.
If you want visible, lasting results, you need to practice Pilates regularly, ideally a series of 8 abdominal exercises per session, repeated twice a week. Better than Pilates endurance? The choice of exercises, the precision of movements, concentration and breathing!
Pilates breathing for a flat, firm stomach
During a Pilates exercise, it’s the breathing technique that makes all the difference! It helps oxygenate the body, and plays an important role in concentration and precision of movement.
As we inhale, we connect to the body’s energy center, drawing in the lower abdomen and absorbing the navel, gently without forcing. Then relax the abdomen by gradually breathing in.
